Well, it's official. According to the US government agency NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), mermaids don't exist.
HMPH! I beg to differ. (Hey, science isn't always pretty.)
Besides, would Animal Planet lie to us? Huh? WOULD THEY?

Fortunately, not all of the US government's agencies are such killjoys.

Date: 2012-07-05 12:15 pm (UTC)...the scientist who becomes entangled with the rogue merman...
I do hope that means what it sounds like. Because SLASH.
So, who's playing Merman? Nicholas Brendan?

Date: 2012-07-07 12:09 am (UTC)I was thinking "Shawn Ashmore?" until I googled the guy. Amusingly, Shawn Ashmore played Rogue's boyfriend Iceman in X-Men -- which is how I know about him -- while Shawn Roberts played Rogue's earlier ill-fated boyfriend.
Sorry, I prefer Ashmore. (Too bad Patrick Duffy's no longer available ;) )
Brandon Routh could work. I only know Sage Brocklebank (which I keep reading as Brokeback) from Psych, but he does have a sweet innocent vibe there that could work as well.
Google's second suggestion, when I'd typed as far as "sage bro," was sage brown butter sauce. Also, I'm dying now to see Sage Brocklebank and Benedict Cumberbatch on the same marquee. I'm easily amused.

Date: 2012-07-07 12:18 am (UTC)Shawn Roberts has a nice body and an angular face, that come across as a little otherwordly, which is why I thought of him.
Brandon is good at the clueless, but no so much at depth. Which is what I would want in a character actor for the part. Sage is another one good at the clueless character, but he is more expressive. I think he would have been a better choice for Kyle XY than Matt Dallas, but he was too old for the part.
Word Soup, gobbly gook, and Walla Walla, Washington. I am also easily amused.
