The theme of this year’s parade was “Echoes of Success.”

All of the floats in this parade are required to have all surfaces covered by natural materials, such as flowers, plants, seaweed, seeds, bark, vegetables, or nuts. For more, see the 2014 post Decorating parade floats, at my journal.

Lucy Pet Foundation’s float, “Lucy Pet’s Gnarly Crankin’ K-9 Wave Maker”
Winner of the Extraordinaire Trophy, for most spectacular float

At 126 feet long and 74 tons, the float, unsurprisingly, set two Guinness World Records, for both longest and heaviest float in the history of the Rose Parade. The tank contained 10,000 gallons of water for the eight dogs to surf on, and they had a ball!

The video shows not only the surfin’ action, but also more of the decoration on the float, which is quite beautiful in itself.

Winner of the Isabella Colman Trophy, for the best presentation of color and color harmony through floral use
