I remember one year on Valentine's day, here in Florida, everything was so hot and dry, fires raged all across the state. They came near our house. My family lived in a close radius back then. All our homes were at risk. Mum and dad had us round up all our important things and only one toy each. The fires were across the canal behind the house, a few blocks down the road, one had jumped the canal and was burning a house there. Some time late in the night, they woke us and told us we were safe. The fire had been stopped and we could go home. I don't remember where we were. We may have been at my aunt's house.
